About
Welcome to The Oaks Satay Noodle House, a culinary gem nestled in the vibrant Oaks Complex on Cuba Street in Te Aro, Wellington. This charming establishment may be tucked away on the first floor, but those who ascend the flight of stairs are rewarded with a dining experience steeped in tradition and flavor. With a history that spans decades, it's no wonder that this spot has become a cherished memory for many, including patrons from their university days.
One of the standout features of The Oaks is its generous portion sizes that never skimp on flavor. Eugene T. aptly describes it as a place where food consistency reigns supreme — a rare find in today’s fast-paced culinary landscape. Regulars like Abb Gilmour sing praises about their go-to dishes, like the chicken with vegetables and rice, specially spiced to perfection. It’s this unwavering reliability that keeps diners returning time and again.
But it’s not just the food that impresses; it's the exceptional customer service that enhances the overall dining experience. For many, the smiles from the staff are as comforting as the authentic flavors of their meals. Whether enjoying a steaming bowl of soup while gazing out the window or sharing a hearty meal with friends, visitors often find a sense of belonging here.
As a food reviewer of Menu Buzz, I cannot overlook the character that The Oaks Satay Noodle House embodies. The aesthetics may exhibit a bit of wear, harkening back to its roots, but there’s an undeniable charm in its authenticity. A bit of sprucing up could elevate its ambiance, yet the soul of the place remains in its delicious offerings and the affection with which they are served.
If you're seeking a warm, inviting spot for hearty meals that don’t compromise on taste, The Oaks Satay Noodle House is your destination. Don’t let its hidden location fool you — the flavors waiting to be discovered are absolutely worth the climb!

“ The food and customer service is really good. And the window view after a long day with authentic taste food is what i really wanted. The soup is so good. And would like to visit again. ”
“ I always love coming here after work - I get the same thing every time (chicken with veges with rice and ask them to make it spicy for me). It's a dish they always do right and I'll never stop ordering it. The staff are always super friendly and the pricing is pretty fair for the portions you get. 10/10 every time. I came in today and it was amazing again. Thank you!! ”
“ A hidden gem right in the heart of the city. You’ll miss it easily as it sits on the 1st floor and only noticeable from the menu and sign board which leads you up a flight of stairs. This place has been around for such a long time and it used to be a haunt with my mates during our uni days which was a couple of decades ago! A great selection of food and they don’t disappoint. What I’m impressed is that the consistency is still the same from day 1 and portion sizing is generous. They have a toilet available but you’ll need a key behind the counter and it comes with a super large keychain! Since nothing much has changed, the place is slightly run down and would definitely benefit from a little makeover. ”
